The Augusta Department of Public Safety (combined Police and Fire) is seeking highly motivated applicants for the position of Public Safety Officer. This position is both a Kansas State Certified / Commissioned Law Enforcement officer as well as a Firefighter and Rescue Technician. The Augusta Department of Public Safety is a unique organization that is on the cutting edge of law enforcement and firefighting techniques. The organization offers state-of-the-art equipment, paid uniforms and cleaning, excellent benefit plans, Kansas Police & Fire (KP&F) retirement and 12-hour shifts that allow every officer to have a three-day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) weekend off every other weekend.  The position requires rotations to night shift and requires work on weekends and holidays.  Competitive salary with KP&F retirement.  Full medical, dental and vision insurance with very low employee premiums.  Starting salary will be higher if candidate is a Kansas certified officer.  Applicants must be 21 years of age at the time of application, and have a high school diploma or equivalent, college preferred, with a clean criminal record.  Applicant must pass a physical agility test, background investigation, oral interview, and any additional conditional job testing.  Work schedule requires weekend, holiday, rotating shift work, overtime, and court appearances.



The Augusta Department of Public Safety is a full-service organization offering police, fire, rescue and 9-1-1 services for the City of Augusta, Kansas and Butler County Fire District Number 2.
